The tradition of fermenting fruits and vegetables into beverages is an ancient practice. Here at Angelica's Garden we ferment both red beets and limes creating 2 slightly effervescent products: Beet Kvass and Lime Kvass. While beet kvass has its origins in Eastern European and Russion culture, I've created a nice recipe that makes it both healthy and tasty. The Lime Kvass is my own invention and perhaps the only Lime Kvass in the world. Using my 15 years of vegetable fermenting experience, I've found a way to properly ferment limes and created this most unique drink. Both Kvasses can be used as health tonics. I recomment 4 ounces as a standard serving size to get the benefits of the living probiotics, enzymes and important nutrients. And by the way, this is NOT kombucha or anything like kombucha. My kvasses are not sweet, nor are they made from sugar and tea. They are made using only organic and/or ecofarmed produce. If you would like them a little sweeter, I'd recomment adding a little bit of raw honey.
